MelodyBarn Name: Melody Breed: Saddlebred Reg'd Name: Pasturetime Melody Reg#: 128923 ASHA, Inc DOB: June 11, 1996 Sire: Summertime Ebony & Ivory, by Csrnival Razza Ma Tazz, out of Symbolette Dam: Happy Chimes, by Santana's Musical Chime, Out of Jolie Height: 15.1hh Age: 14 y/o Gender: Mare Colour: Bay Health: Excellent Lameness: None - Sound Vices: None Personality: Friendly. Easy to catch (if halter is left on), lead, groom, tie, trim, trailer, etc. Currently turned out with a herd of mares (horses, ponies & donkeys). Doesn't like ramp load trailers or deworming. Melody does have separation anxiety when taken away from her buddies. So you either need to take the time and patience and teach her to get over her issues, or you need to always bring her buddy in to keep her company while you are grooming her or riding her, etc. History/Training: Green Broke to Ride. She had not been ridden in 6 years prior to coming to HCW as her owner was away at university. I hope to have someone assess her training this week. Feb 10 UPDATE: Melody was ridden today, she was amazing under saddle, but she wanted nothing to do with having a bit in her mouth, so she was ridden with just a halter and 2 lead ropes, just at a walk as it was icey under the snow and it was a first good start after 6 years of not being ridden. MARCH UPDATE: My volunteers have been riding Melody once a week at a walk, and now at a trot, and she has been excellent. We may take her over to the local arena to try out her canter (still too slippery here at home to try a canter). She has been getting MUCH better with her separation issues. MARCH 14 UPDATE: Today we took Melody over to the local arena and she was excellent, so excellent that we decided to leave her there for Nycola (12 yrs old) to ride during March break. If you are interested in seeing Melody this would be a good week to see her, while she is there. We have discovered she loves to jump!! UPDATE: We took her down the road yesterday and she was great. She enjoyed leading the way. Future/Suitability: English or Western, Show or Pleasure Additional Info: If you are interested in adopting Melody and if you wish to transfer registration papers into your name all work/costs involved will be your responsibility. Melody can be turned out 24/7 or in a stall at night, she is not fussy. But she does need a blankie in the winter if she is out 24/7. She is currently on free choice hay 24/7, as well as purina high fat high fibre pellets and vit/min supplement twice a day. Adoption Fee/Purchase Price: Was: $1500 - Now: $750 To take advantage of this $750 sale price you must have your application approved, pay for Melody in full and have her picked up (or delivered at your expense) on or before April 18, 2010. We accept email money transfers and cash. We no longer accepted cheques due to all the NSF cheques we have received in the past. We cannot help more horses, ponies and donkeys until we find good homes for the ones that are here. The adoption fees are very important in keeping HCW running. Melody needs and deserves a good permanent loving home. She has been patiently waiting since Jan '10 and not one potential new home has come to see her during this time. Current Status: Located at HCW in Cameron, ON - Available for Adoption/Sale or Fostering/Free Lease (Until Adopted). If you have any questions about Melody and/or would like to make arrangements to see her, please email Claire at HCWEquineRescue@sympatico.ca SPONSORS NEEDED!!!: If you would like to help Melody, but are not able to Adopt or Foster her at this time perhaps you would be interested in Sponsoring her by helping to cover the costs of (or a portion of) her daily care - such as her Hay, Purina High Fat High Fibre Pellets, Vet, Vaccinations, Farrier, De-Worming, Blue Salt Block, Treats, Halter, Winter Turnout Blanket, Spring Turnout Sheet, Fly Mask, Fly Spray, Brushes, Lead Rope, etc. If you would like to help in any way, please email Claire at HCW for details.
